IMPACT OF ADVERTISING ON SOCIETY

For a start, it is necessary to clarify how enormous could be the effect of advertising in society. Bearing in mind the increase of the consumerist attitude these days, this essay has been made to discuss the impact of publicity in our behaviour, that is to say, on what we buy along with how advertising is related to our everyday lives.

Anybody can claim that some ads are pure art, because of being visually beautiful and accompanied by innovative songs which are capable of enjoying us. In addition to this, many of them challenge previously settled stereotypes and show the diversity of modern society. Nevertheless, the majority of them are an unwanted intrusion, as are online ads, unsolicited phone calls and the topic of the ad which interrupt what are you watching on TV.

Furthermore, it is remarkable the main purpose of advertising: “Persuading people to buy something”. If they are capable of that depend on the person but it is undeniable that are turning people into greedy individuals who have been surrounded all their lives by a consumerist message which have made many of them to buy more things than were needed.

In conclusion, the most important effect of advertising is its impact on our everyday lives, due to the severe problems which have been caused to many people, not only for its irritating nature but also for its indirect impact on people’s behaviour, changing their way of being because the subconscious persuasion made by celebrities or people in who population believe in.
